The End of a Decade!

It's no big surprise that I think 2009 completely sucked ass.  It's been a dreadfully tough year mentally, physically, and financially. I cannot even tell you how much I am looking forward to a new year, a new DECADE! I know many people find it silly and trivial to put all your hope into the "new year" when in all actuality it's just another day, but I need that hope. A fresh start in ways.

I was going to do the "looking back"-over-the-year post, but after reading Alex's blog, I am going to do a brief decade in review!

2000:
January- I turned the highly anticipated 21 and found out that it is highly overrated. Justin came back from basic training. We moved into our first place together, along with our baby Averie.

February 14- We drove from ND to Vegas where we were married at the Silver Bells chapel.

May- Justin started working in the oilfield.

July- We bought our first house.

I also took classes and became a Realtor.

2001-2002:
Pretty uneventful, nothing really stands out in my mind besides becoming pregnant with the twins.

2003:
Pregnant withe the twins, due in August.

preggo2

April- First hospital stay due to preterm labor.

 April to July- Strict bedrest.

July 3- The twins were born!

babies

September- Drama with the inlaws and they joined forces with Kane's biological mom and took us to court for visitation. This was a horribly stressful time. Nothing like having newborn twins, a husband with a new job, and lawyers and all that bullshit thrown in. Tough.

2004- More of the same.

2005-
July- One of Justin's best friends dies in a car accident.

October- Justin starts toolpushing and working in the Colorado/Utah area.

2006-

January- I get my first DSLR camera!

February- We decide we are going to move to Colorado. We pick a town and the kids and I drive down to check it out. It feels like home. Justin meets us there and we find a place to live.

No bites

March- We pack up our crap and move to Fruita, CO! *LOVE*

August- I start working for Allegiant Air and love it! I didn't really make any money after paying sitters, but it was worth it for the flight benefits for my parents and my family!

My Grandpa Barnhart dies. :(

All year long- We visit our beloved "dirtpile" and have off-road fun!

Makes me nervous.

FUN

2007-
January- Taking garbage out, wearing Justin's too-big slippers, trip, catch myself with arm oustretched. Fractured radial head. OUCH. Out of work for 3 months.

February- Start training for the Steamboat Springs 1/2 marathon for Team in Training. My friend, Nora, joins me.

April- Get notice that owners are selling our house. 30 days to find a place.

Justin also is offered an awesome job. In ND.

May- We pack up and move to Bismarck.

June- I fly back to Colorado to complete my 1/2 marathon. Most.Rewarding.Experience.Ever.

July- We buy our current house.

November- Justin and I fly to San Diego for the Colts/Chargers NFL game. Awesome.

2008-
March- I take a trip to Idaho to visit my best friend, Megan, who I hadn't seen in 8 years! I also get to visit old friends from high school - Steph, Michele, Nichole...

April- I discover the wonderful world of blogging.

June- We take a family trip to Captiva Island, FL. One of the best trips ever.

Summer- Many lovely days spent at the bunkhouse with family and friends!

Mind Eraser

November- Justin and I fly to San Diego for the Colts/Chargers NFL game. Again, awesome.

This is also the month that we launch The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans!!

2009-
January- Justin loses his job.

February- We take a family 3100-miler roadtrip. Best enjoy the money while we still have it, right?? It was a good time!

March to ??- Torturous months with NO MONEY, creditors calling and threatening. Lots of drama, lots of arguing, lots of anger.

May- Hurt my back. Bad. Continues for months. Finally have MRI in the fall. Herniated and bulging discs. Still plagued with it!

Summer- Many lovely days spent at the bunkhouse with family and friends!

Sacrum, anyone?

August- I fly to L.A. for the kickoff of the Lose for Good campaign with Weight Watchers. Definitely one of the highlights of the year for me. Loved everything about it!

garden10-2

December- Sign-up with Team in Training to raise more money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Will run/walk the San Diego Rock n' Roll 1/2 marathon on June 6th!

Justin finally gets offered a consulting job.

Stay tuned...

Happy New Year to you all! 2010 is going to be great!

What a great decade you had, with the exception of 2009. 9 out of 10 isn't bad!

Happy New Year!

What a great synopsis. Not sure I have the patience to do this post. Maybe I'll work on it tonight while I'm trying not to fall asleep before midnight!

Yay! I'm so glad you did it!

I hated 2009 even though so many good things happened (a new baby, new house) but money, my deranged mother, some bad friends ruined it completely.

Here's to a New Year and great adventures!

i love this idea, but for me, 2000 thru 2006 is pretty much "lived a single life and all that comes with it." ummm, yeah. nothing that should be blogged publicly. ;)

girl, 2010 is going to be your year!! you are going to rock it out for sure!! XO
